Que TrunkASO!

Well I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!  No snow here unfortunately :/  But we did go to a lagoon on Tuesday for P-day where you could at least see snow...it´s a hollow victory, but it works for me.  Then we sang christmas carols in the plaza in Huaraz.

Then Christmas.  I obviously skyped with my fam, but I had to use my district leader´s skype (he´s from Guatemala), so I sent my mom a message, but he thought that another message would be better so he wrote, "This is Jenna and this is the account of my beaner friend"  So now my family thinks I´m racist.

But he and three other elders went home this transfer so with that and Christmas, I think our whole zone was trunkASO, which is like trunky, but Spanish and better.  We had a meeting to say goodbye to all of them, it was a sad ordeal.

Then Yesterday we were with an investigador and it started absolutely POURING.  And she lives in a little hut with dirt floors and what not so her house started flooding, so we were scrambling aroud trying to save her house.  Then we went back home so Hna. Flores could change because she got soaked, and we got a call that she is getting transferred, so now comes the wait of who will be my next companion.

Well that´s been my week.  Everyone have a great week and Happy New Years!

Lots of pictures this week.

All Ready for Christmas...got her package from home.
This district looks like it is having fun.

Trip to the Lagoon for Pday.  Looks so gorgeous, but not as warm as you would think.

Birthday tradition.  Face shoved into the cake.

The zone leaders - Elder Morales saying good bye - his mission is complete.

A Christmas Miracle

Well sorry to break it to you, but a lot happened this week, but I don´t have a lot of time.  So you won´t get much.
We had another work visit with our sister training leaders, I don´t like work visits, but it was alright.
We had a baptism on Saturday, and the night before we had called the zone leaders to ask if the font was still full from the baptism that day and they said yes.  So we get there the next day and it is bone dry, and there is no water at the church. So we start frantically calling everybody who could have a key to the church to come and turn on the water.  Finally we get it turned on and ________ doesn´t get there until an hour after the scheduled time, the water was frigid by that time.
Then we had a few other Christmas activities that I mainly went to because there was hot chocolate.  There is also this fruit cake like bread called paneton....awful.
Then yesterday was our Christmas party!  We have to travel 4 hours to get there then four hours after and we got back at midnight, to get to our house and I couldn´t find the keys, so we went and slept in the casa of another companionship of hermanas and in the morning I discovered the keys were in my bag the whole time....not my best moment.  But I hope everyone has a great Christmas and always remember the reason for the season.  He is the Gift!
On the way to the zone Christmas Party...At the party...some of the decorations.

 Baptism

 Hermanas
Elders Reese & Morales
Zone with President & Sister Archibald
Last but not least, Jenna got some new, really cool shoes...not waterproof, but cool never the less!!

We are so anxious to be able to Skype with her this week for Christmas.  She says the Christmas Meal in Peru is on Christmas Eve so they will be eating with a member family that night.  She says the zone party was really fun, but she was bummed that her previous zone was not there after all.  She had been looking forward to seeing them again.
I'm glad to report the package we sent her for Christmas was delivered to her at the zone party!!  YEA!!
Merry Christmas everyone, from Peru.  #sharethegift

No Title Today

Well this week....really not much happens any given week, well nothing different.  We teach and walk and stuff.  Just be assured that we do have investigators and things like that, I´m just not big on sharing.
We did do some service this week of peeling potatoes.....just like home, except they didn´t wash the potatoes before peeling so my hands were super dirty afterwards, but I love it.  And apparently it´s weird to eat raw potatoes.....who knew. Thanks a lot grandma, now I´m weird.  Just kidding, I always knew that.
Then we had a talent show in the ward and I tried to play the piano for one of the hermanas, but I didn´t have music so I was just trying to play Memory from Cats from memory.....haha, but it was awful and she didn´t know the words very well, but in moments like this, I´m grateful that noone knows English, so they didn´t know the difference.
Last, but not least, we found zion in our area.  It´s an "invasion" which basically just means absolutely tiny huts with dirt floors.  But the people are happy and we found 7 new investigators in 2 hours there.  Two of them contacted us after we had given a book of mormon to other people and they wanted one too.  I will keep you all updated on our adventures there.
Love everyone!  Have a great week!

(These computers won´t let me send pictures, not my fault)

Other tidbits:

I bought a cool hat and some Peruvian pants.
We are having a multi-zone Christmas party on Monday.  Which reminds me, we will have our pday on Tuesday next week.
ME:  Do you know any more about the Skype call for Christmas?
Jenna:  We got it set up with the relief society president, but we haven´t gotten her username or anything yet, so that will be next week.. at the last minute.

ME:  Where is your zone Christmas Party?
Jenna:  In Barranca, which is the next zone down, about 4 hours in bus.  It will be interesting, but I will get to see Hna Rios and Elder Durrant because it is all of Norte Chico which is the 4 zones up north.

Jenna's dad loved "old movies" and she loved that too.  So here is her good news:

So side note that I forgot to tell you last week.  One of the Hnas in my district, Hna McKnight from Michigan comes from a family like us.  She has seen, What´s up Doc, The Road To movies, Thoroughly Modern Millie and the Court Jester.  And Elder Reese from my ward has seen the Court Jester too, we were singing the songs together, it was the best day of my life.  I was soooo excited
